ESC was commissioned by an international subsea solutions provider to develop a comprehensive EHS Legal Register for their offshore operations in Singapore, Brunei, and Vietnam.
About the Project
The client is an integrated subsea service provider to the offshore oil and gas industry providing subsea construction and installation solutions for the development of new oil fields and the upgrade of existing ones, as well as inspection, repair, maintenance (IRM) of existing offshore production and pipeline facilities. The client aims to maintain the safest operations, quality, performance, and timely delivery for their subsea projects.
Our Approach
ESC carried out an initial assessment to screen and present relevant legislation for the client’s legal register. This was done in order to assist the client in managing the complexities of applicable legal provisions and management of standard requirements, as well as the complexity of the client’s operational activities across the region.
ESC developed a customised legal register template specific to the client’s operation and gathered Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) laws and regulations in an excel database that allows the client to easily identify the articles and clauses. The legal register database was developed to meet the legal requirements of each country-specific jurisdiction in which the client operates.
Outcome
ESC’s in-depth knowledge of the local environment, legislation, policies, and practises aided the client in comprehending unfamiliar regulatory systems, as well as identifying and implementing the most applicable laws and regulations for their site operations. The client was able to develop and maintain its legal register database and now manage their own compliance requirements and update the register as required.
