ESC was commissioned by a leading data centre technology company to develop a comprehensive EHS Legal Register for their regional operations in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.
About the Project
The client is a best-in-class technology company that develops and operates large scale data centres. The client’s business is rapidly expanding throughout Asia, and in order to comply with constructing a data centre in many jurisdictions, an effective environment, health, and safety (EHS) management system is required, as well as identification of the appropriate regulatory requirements in which they operate.
Our Approach
ESC carried out an initial assessment to screen and present relevant legislation for the client’s legal register and met with different stakeholders from Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore to further understand the complexities of the client’s operational activities across the region.
After a series of assessments, ESC developed a bespoke legal register system that will enable the client to identify the specific legislation, regulations, and laws pertinent to the activities being undertaken in each jurisdiction. To date, ESC provides regular EHS legal register updates for the client and assess their compliance.
Outcome
ESC’s in-depth knowledge of the local environment, legislation, policies, and practises aided the client in comprehending unfamiliar regulatory systems, as well as identifying and implementing the most applicable laws and regulations for their site operations. The client gained understanding of the regulatory frameworks and is now able to make an informed decision about the level of compliance risk that is acceptable to their operations.
