Principal Consultant

Job Description 
As a Principal Consultant at ESC, you will provide strategic leadership in delivering contamination and risk advisory services across Asia. You will lead complex and high-risk projects related to contaminated land, remediation, environmental liability, quantitative risk assessments and process safety. 

You will play a key role in shaping this service area, managing senior client relationships, driving business development, and ensuring technical excellence across projects. This role requires deep technical expertise, commercial acumen, and strong leadership capability.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight across multiple projects, ensuring highquality, timely and technically sound deliverables. 
  • Provide strategic oversight and technical leadership across contamination, remediation and risk projects 
  • Lead complex site investigation and remediation programmes, including multi-site or regional portfolios 
  • Oversee delivery of advanced risk assessments (e.g. QRA, human health and ecological risk, process safety interfaces) 
  • Provide technical oversight for advanced process safety and risk studies, including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA and related methodologies 
  • Act as senior reviewer and technical authority for key deliverables and methodologies 
  • Serve as a primary client interface, building long-term relationships and advising on risk, liability and regulatory strategies 
  • Drive business development, including proposal leadership, tender submissions, pricing and service line growth 
  • Manage and mentor Senior Consultants, Consultants and Associate Consultants, fostering technical excellence and career development 
  • Oversee financial performance of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, resourcing and risk management 
  • Guide integration with broader ESC offerings (e.g. EHS compliance, ESG, due diligence)

Job Requirements 

  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in contaminated land, remediation, environmental risk, process safety or related consulting fields 
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, hydrogeology or related discipline (Master’s advantageous) 
  • Strong track record in leading large or complex contamination and risk projects 
  • Deep expertise in risk and process safety frameworks, including QRA, HAZOP, LOPA or equivalent methodologies 
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, client management and service line leadership 
  • Strong commercial, strategic and project management skills 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, including senior client engagement 
  • Professional certifications or chartership (where applicable) advantageous 
  • High level of professional integrity, judgement and leadership capability across regional teams

Senior Consultant

Job Description 
As a Senior Consultant at ESC, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality contamination, remediation and risk advisory services across Asia. Reporting to the Principal Consultant, you will lead complex operations-phase assignments including site investigations, contaminated land assessments, remediation projects, quantitative risk studies and process safety assessments. 

You will be responsible for managing projects end-to-end, overseeing fieldwork, ensuring technically robust deliverables, and maintaining strong client and regulatory engagement. You will also support junior team development and contribute to business growth within this service area. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Lead contaminated land and site investigation projects, including intrusive investigations, sampling strategies and data interpretation 
  • Deliver technical studies such as human health and environmental risk assessments, Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), and contamination impact assessments 
  • Deliver process safety and risk studies, including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA and related methodologies where required 
  • Oversee and guide remediation planning, implementation and validation, including contractor and subcontractor coordination 
  • Manage fieldwork activities, including supervision, QA/QC and health & safety compliance 
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, remediation strategies, risk assessments, proposals and client deliverables 
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, resources and financial performance

  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in contaminated land, site investigation, remediation, environmental risk or process safety consulting 
  • Strong technical expertise in contamination assessment, sampling methodologies, and risk assessment frameworks 
  • Experience with remediation technologies, implementation and verification processes 
  • Experience in process safety studies (e.g. HAZOP, QRA, LOPA, SIL or similar methodologies) is advantageous 
  • Knowledge of regional regulatory frameworks and international best practices 
  • Proven project management experience, including managing field teams and subcontractors 
  • Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills 
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with risk modelling, GIS or contaminant transport tools advantageous

As a Consultant at ESC, you will play a pivotal role in delivering multidisciplinary consultancy services across Southeast Asia. This dynamic position involves conducting research, fieldwork, data analysis, and preparing high-quality reports across environmental, social, safety and sustainability domains. You will be responsible for producing client-facing deliverables, coordinating field activities, and supporting stakeholder engagement efforts. In addition to project execution, you will contribute to project management, business development initiatives, compliance tracking, and internal operational support. Success in this role requires close collaboration with clients, authorities, and cross-functional teams to ensure outcomes that are both technically sound and strategically aligned.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Conduct research and contribute to technical assessments and sustainability-related studies. 
  • Manage fieldwork activities, including site surveys, sampling, and supervision.
