ESC Strengthens Water Expertise with New Appointment

Vietnam, December 3, 2024 – ESC, a leading environment, safety, and sustainability consultant in Asia, announces the appointment of Dr. Le Song Ha as its new Associate Principal Consultant. With Dr. Ha’s addition, ESC is well-equipped to expand its water services in Asia Pacific and capture emerging opportunities in the water market.

Dr. Song Ha is a seasoned water resources expert with over 15 years of experience. Her expertise spans hydrology, hydraulics, water quality modeling, Nature-based Solutions (NbS) planning and design, and climate change impact assessment. She has been instrumental in numerous projects across Asia, including Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, and China. Her extensive knowledge and skills will significantly contribute to ESC’s ability to deliver innovative and effective solutions to clients in various industries, including infrastructure, urban development, manufacturing, and energy.

Strengthening Expertise Across Key Teams 

Dr. Ha will be a key addition to two key teams at ESC: 

Water Team 

Dr. Ha will collaborate with an experienced team, including Paul Whincup, Arjen van Schaijk, Stephen Skalecki, and Minh Nguyen, to establish the new Centre of Water Excellence at ESC, addressing key water challenges. Together, they will focus on enhancing climate change resilience by conducting source vulnerability assessment, flood risk assessments and developing strategies for sustainable water management. The team will also work on optimising hydropower generation while minimising environmental impacts through river modeling and study. Additionally, they will assess the effects of floating solar panels on water quality in reservoirs, impact of sediment plume in subsea cable installation and develop mitigation measures to ensure the integration of renewable energy is environmentally responsible. 

 

ESIA Technical Leadership Team 

Dr. Ha will also be a key member of ESC’s newly established Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Technical Leadership Team studying project’s water-related impacts. In this capacity, she will work alongside other experts at ESC to enhance project delivery and outcomes, particularly in complex and challenging environments. The team will focus on ensuring that all projects are not only environmentally sound but also socially responsible.
