As a Principal Consultant at ESC, you will lead the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) compliance audit business line, driving strategic growth and ensuring high-quality project delivery across Southeast Asia. This senior leadership role involves managing client relationships, overseeing complex projects, and mentoring a team of consultants. You will also contribute to other environmental service areas, such as Pollution Control Studies, Environmental Baseline Studies, Quantitative Risk Assessments, EIAs, EM&A, permitting, and site planning. Success in this position requires combining business development with technical leadership to deliver profitable and sustainable outcomes. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS Compliance Audits and Environmental Due Diligence assessments as principal assessor. 
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for small to mid-size projects, including subcontractor management. 
  • Manage and grow a team of consultants and associate consultants, fostering technical excellence and collaboration. 
  • Drive business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, tender submissions, and budgeting. 
  • Ensure timely, high-quality deliverables for clients, including assessment reports and technical documentation. 
  • Liaise with clients, project teams, and government authorities to ensure compliance and project success. 
  • Champion knowledge sharing and capacity building within the EHS team and across the organisation. 

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, with exposure to EHS audits and compliance. 
  • Strong knowledge of environmental laws and regulations; regional audit experience is advantageous. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. 
  • Recognised professional qualifications (e.g., MHKIE (Env), MHKIQEP) are an advantage. 
  • Proven ability in business development, proposal preparation, and project budgeting. 
  • Strong analytical, planning, and project management skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience in client management is advantageous. 
  • Ability to exercise discretion on complex and sensitive issues. 
  • Leadership skills and ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
